We never got around to baking anything yesterday, so we did it this morning. My two sweet little bakers and I made Aleph-Bet cookies (the Hebrew Alpha Bet) and we finally got to use one of the many many gifts Savta (Grandmother in Hebrew) sent us a while ago - the Aleph-Bet cookie cutters.
Lia and Maya were so good and loved playing with the dough. I was surprised to see them focused on these cookies for quite a while. I also took advantage and we did a lot of letter talking and spelling names and words in Hebrew. They make me so happy when they speak Hebrew, because it really doesn't matter what I do with them, as long as they live here, Hebrew will not be the stronger language.
1.5 cups flour
1 cup sugar (we used 3/4 of a cup and it's sweet enough)
1 cup pecans - just put them in a zip lock bag and take your aggression out on them and get as close as you can to a powder
2 sticks of butter
A splash of vanilla
Mix those all together and if you wish to use cookie cutters, flatten the dough on a floured surface and work it;)
Have a wonderful week!

Wow - how great is this?! We are currently viewing this from the UK and Harry & George are so excited to see their 'Californian' friends on the pc. Missing you all like crazy and can't wait to see you when we get back to the West Coast. Tonnes of love, the Davids. xx
